This wine is Tintilla’s flagship product and is fittingly made from Shiraz (alternatively called Syrah) a classic Hunter variety. Grown in red clay soil over limestone conglomerates, on a northeast sloping hillside, Tintilla’s Shiraz vines enjoy ideal growing conditions.
To set this wine apart it is called ‘Patriarch’, symbolic of its hierarchal pedigree and used the traditional name Syrah as a mark of respect to the early Hunter pioneers who recognized its affinity with the Hunter soil and climate.
Tasting Notes: A darker hew of garnet showing an ever so slight hint of development. The aroma is reticent with a ferrous tone to dark plum, violet, cherry and liquorice notes. Still tight wound across a hernel of firm, tannins with an oaky pitch.
