Patriarch Syrah

$80.00 / bottle

This wine is Tintilla’s flagship product and is fittingly made from Shiraz (alternatively called Syrah) a classic Hunter variety. Grown in red clay soil over limestone conglomerates, on a northeast sloping hillside, Tintilla’s Shiraz vines enjoys ideal growing conditions.
To set this wine apart it is called ‘Patriarch’, symbolic of its hierarchal pedigree and used the traditional name Syrah as a mark of respect to the early Hunter pioneers who recognized its affinity with the Hunter soil and climate.
Tasting Notes: A darker hew of garnet showing an ever so slight hint of development. The aroma is reticent with a ferrous tone to dark plum, violet, cherry and liquorice notes. Still tight wound across a hernel of firm, tannins with an oaky pitch.

Tasting Notes

The aroma of this wine is vibrant, modern nose of strong, rich, black berry fruits in the Hunter savoury style with pepper and earth tones and added coconut from the oak maturation. The palate of this wine is powerful, yet elegant wine with tightly balanced tannins, concentrated and intense raspberry & blackberry fruit flavours with well integrated oak…and a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’. Smooth like a classic Hunter with great line and a long, briary and lasting finish. A great wine young, that will get more complex as it ages. Drink Now until 2035
