Our outdoor seating sits under cover, so it’s a comfortable spot for your dog to settle in while you work through a tasting. We ask that dogs stay on a leash and close to your table, both for their comfort and for the other guests around you. It’s always worth mentioning your dog when you book, just so we can make sure there’s a table ready in the right spot.
Signs a winery is genuinely dog-friendly
Not every cellar door that says “dog friendly” on a directory listing means the same thing by it. Before you build a whole day around it, it’s worth checking a few things: whether dogs are welcome inside or in an outdoor area only, whether that area is covered or shaded, whether water is provided, and whether there’s a limit on numbers or breeds. A quick call ahead saves an awkward moment when you arrive.
Making a day of it
A dog-friendly wine tasting pairs naturally with an olive tasting, since both happen in the same relaxed, outdoor setting. Bring a water bowl of your own if your dog prefers familiar things, and plan for breaks between cellar doors if you’re visiting more than one winery, since not every property in the Hunter Valley welcomes dogs the way we do.
